Luka's processing speed in transition here is what separates him from almost everyone else in the league. He sees Jaren Jackson Jr. crash the glass, clocks that it leaves only George back in transition, and makes the simple read to attack immediately. That hesitation from George is exactly how you don't want to defend a fast break against a guy this size with this much control.⁣ ⁣ Then he extends that last step to get all the way to the rim for the easy lefty finish. Clean footwork, no travel to see here.⁣ ⁣ As for the no-call on the drive, Keyonte gets there late and catches Luka's hand on the swipe attempt. Hand is considered part of the ball, so there's no foul to give here. Mark Lindsay got this one right. #shorts 0:46

Luka Reads the Numbers in Transition, Then Refs Get the No-Call Right

BBALLBREAKDOWN 1.9K views 7 hours ago

Luka reads this break before it even develops. He sees Jaren Jackson Jr. crash the glass, clocks that it leaves tiny George back there alone, and that simple hand off is all he needs to go downhill. That's just not a matchup you stop in transition.⁣ ⁣ He extends that last step a little longer to glide into the easy lefty finish, which is a nice touch most guys don't think to do.⁣ ⁣ As for the no call after, Keyonte gets there late and clips Luka's hand on the way to the ball. Hand's part of the ball. Clean no call from referee Mark Lindsay, even if Luka didn't love it. #shorts 0:46

Luka Reads the Floor, Extends the Step, and Gets the Easy Lefty Finish

BBALLBREAKDOWN 1.5K views 8 hours ago

9 for 12 from midrange and none of it was accidental. I love the patience on the pin away, feeling out whether the defense doubles before he even thinks about shooting.⁣ ⁣ Then out of horns they dial up a Spain wrinkle, Austin Reaves cutting underneath Walker Kessler's man to spring the back screen. Give that action credit too.⁣ ⁣ But the footwork is the real story. Lunge with the right foot, both feet off the floor to gather, lands in a split stance, lifts off the left for the Dirk fadeaway. Keyonte George never had a chance to contest that.⁣ ⁣ And he banks it in. Has to let the ball start dropping before it hits glass, that's the detail most guys never get right.⁣ ⁣ This is what an unstoppable midrange actually looks like. #shorts 0:47

Luka's Dirk Fadeaway Decoded: The Footwork Behind His Unstoppable Midrange

BBALLBREAKDOWN 1.6K views 9 hours ago

Breaking down Luka's 52 piece frame by frame and the rhythm story is wild to me.⁣ ⁣ He missed his first five threes badly out of alignment, turning too far left and letting his arms swing up early into a two motion shot. Then down the stretch he hits four straight to close it out, and the mechanics completely clean up.⁣ ⁣ What I keep coming back to is the knee bend timing on his step back. Six frames to start extending and the shot looks effortless. Twelve frames of sitting in that bend and the ball waits too long at the set point, misses short by a foot. Same shot, same player, completely different rhythm.⁣ ⁣ Inside the arc was a different story, 9 for 12 in the midrange including that over the shoulder Dirk fadeaway off the Spain pick and roll wrinkle. That one with Austin Reaves cutting underneath Kessler's man for the back screen was beautifully designed.⁣ ⁣ 52 points and somehow his jumper still wasn't fully in sync the whole night. That's the scary part. #shorts 2:28

Luka's 52-Point Game Decoded: The Step-Back Rhythm Behind a Scoring Explosion

BBALLBREAKDOWN 1.6K views 10 hours ago

52 points is a video game number, but I can't just look away from the other end of the floor.⁣ ⁣ Seven buckets allowed in the first quarter alone. Bad closeouts, blown box outs, late rotations, going the wrong way on a simple out of bounds action. This isn't a one possession lapse, this is a pattern.⁣ ⁣ What's wild to me is the sequence where he's actively coaching Kessler to protect the rim, and then his own man strolls in for the bucket because the effort around the screen wasn't there. You can't out talk the tape.⁣ ⁣ I do think the lead ballooning changed his approach. Once his team needed him to just go get buckets, the defense became an afterthought and he decided to live with the trade off. When Luka locks into that scoring gear it's nearly impossible to legislate against, I just wish both ends got the same attention. #shorts 1:19

Luka Dropped 52... But I Counted 7 First-Quarter Buckets He Gave Up on Defense

BBALLBREAKDOWN 2.8K views 11 hours ago

Luka's step-back is one of the hardest shots in basketball to diagnose because the misses and makes look almost identical in real time. I synced two of his step-backs from last night frame by frame to the right foot plant and the difference comes down to alignment and knee bend timing.⁣ ⁣ On the miss, he's turned too far left and his arms swing up early, which turns it into a two motion shot. On the make, his alignment is cleaner and even though it releases later, it has more arc and goes in.⁣ ⁣ The bigger tell for me is knee extension. On the shot that falls, his knees start straightening within 6-7 frames of the plant, so the ball barely waits at the set point. On the miss, he's in a deep knee bend for 12 frames before extending, the shot comes out short by about a foot, and it's almost automatic once you see that delay on film.⁣ ⁣ This is why he can miss five straight to start a game and then drill four in a row when it matters. It's not confidence, it's rhythm and mechanics syncing back up. #shorts 1:41

Luka's Step-Back: Frame-by-Frame Breakdown of a Make vs a Miss

It took 52 points from Luka Doncic to drag them back and over the finish line. We broke the whole thing down. Start with the shot profile. Luka takes well over half his shots from three and has always been around league average out there, and the reason is rhythm. He missed five in a row to open the game and then hit four straight when the Lakers needed it most. We sync two nearly identical step backs to the right foot plant to figure out why one went in and one did not, and it comes down to alignment rather than release speed or arc. Then we look at the frame count between the foot plant and the knees extending, and why 6 or 7 frames produces an effortless shot while 12 frames of deep knee bend leaves it short by a foot. Inside the arc he was 9 for 12 and unstoppable. The pin away that forces the switch, the over-the-right-shoulder Dirk leg fade, the Spain wrinkle out of HORNS that he rejects to get downhill, and the footwork on the gather that creates the space. Plus the bank shot timing, a rare Luka fast break, and why there was nothing to complain about on the drive where Keyonte George got his hand. We also get into the step through that looks illegal and is not, the Jaxson Hayes trash talk that went badly, the end of quarter shot where he stepped on a defender's foot and recovered, and the clock management down the stretch that quietly decided the game. Then the part Luka fans may want to skip. He was responsible for seven baskets in the first quarter alone. Bad closeouts, going the wrong way on a back screen, and not boxing out. The scoring was spectacular, and it had to be. #Luka #Lakers #NBA For more info on the cool 3D Graphics, visit CoachPaint: https://tracab.chyronhego.com/coach-paint-coach-nick SUBSCRIBE HERE FOR MORE: http://bit.ly/BBallSub MUSIC: Fighting For Freedom by Anno Domini Join our YT Membership for TONS of extra content: https://bit.ly/3rmJwUB ABOUT BBALLBREAKDOWN BBallBreakdown is devoted to deep-dive analysis of NBA basketball gameplay. Luka's 52 Was Incredible. His Defense Was a Crime Scene

BBALLBREAKDOWN 25.1K views 13 hours ago

At 42, what LeBron does in transition still blows my mind. He's got that one directional speed and power to finish through contact, and watching him slice between defenders his own size like butter tells me the physical tools haven't left yet.⁣ ⁣ I love the feel too. Catching Combo... I mean catching Mitchell asleep on the weak side with that nifty one handed pass for the and one shows the vision is still elite.⁣ ⁣ But Coach Nick has to point out the other side of this. His mind wants to do things his body can't always deliver anymore. He doesn't elevate like he used to, especially off two feet, and that bad finish off the glass after sealing Mobley is proof he needs to adjust how he scores down there.⁣ ⁣ He's still great. He's just 42 playing against guys with speed and bounce he hasn't had in years. That's the story right now. #shorts 1:19

LeBron at 42 vs Cleveland: Still a Transition Problem, But the Finishes Are Telling

BBALLBREAKDOWN 5.4K views October 24, 2026 3:07 pm

The DJ Joel pick and roll with LeBron standing out top is just broken right now. His man sags off, the offense never gets below the three point line, and DJ ends up burping up a contested three with time still on the clock. That's a wasted possession when Embiid on the elbow is devastating.⁣ ⁣ I break down the two actions that actually put LeBron and Embiid in position to succeed together.⁣ ⁣ Put LeBron in the weak side corner, let Embiid ball screen for Maxey, and roll Joel to a low post position where LeBron can feed him with perfect touch. All Embiid has to do is catch and shoot.⁣ ⁣ Or if you want LeBron initiating, run Spain action with Maxey back screening and popping. LeBron can still read the floor better than almost anyone, and it sets Maxey up to attack a short closeout and collapse the defense for Embiid.⁣ ⁣ This is the stuff that actually solves the fit problem. #shorts 1:22
